Hybrid ski mountaineering crampon featuring the Ski-Matic binding system which does away with the heel lever at the back of the crampon, often such levers don't click in place fully due to the walk/ski switch on the back of the boot. The separate strap is to secure the crampon to the ankle.
The New-Matic version by contrast is far more suitable for mountaineering boots rather than ski boots and is so similar to the Air Tech Hybrid that it's hard to understand why Grivel have made both. It is a little lighter though.
The front of the crampon is carbon steel for durability and security and the rear is aluminium alloy for lightness.
Antibott (antiballing plates) are included.
This Evo model has three major changes over the previous version:
- The heel lever is lighter and has only one moving part (as opposed to five) but still adjusts to all suitable boots.
- The webbing tape is narrower (12mm as opposed to 14mm) and lighter.
- The buckle has been redesigned to be lighter and more compact but still give a strong hold.
All this means that Cramp-o-Matic and New-Matic models are 54g lighter that their predecessors, whilst New-Classic models are 14g lighter.
