Remember the old Magic Plate? The Grivel Scream is an ultra light hot-forged version designed especially to use with extra skinny ropes from 5mm - 8mm diameter and will be most sought after by ski mountaineers abseiling in to ski seriously steep couloirs but will also be of use to anyone using ultrathin ropes - more general ski tourers for instance and ice, alpine and Great Ranges climbers. It is at present the only device rated for such small-diameter ropes.
It has two holes, the upper one for belaying and the lower one for connecting to the harness for abseiling and it can be used in guide mode to bring up two clients (though whether the IFMGA would santion bringing up a client on a single 8mm or less is doubtful, maybe one client on two ropes!).
Due to asymmetric holes and faces, four different braking positions are possible.
Certifications: CE EN 795 - type A, CE EN 15151-2, UIAA 129-5.
Rope dimensions: 5mm - 8mm.
