Fast, fuel-efficient personal stove system for solo travellers and minimalist alpine climbing trips. Combining award-winning Reactor® technology with the features solo travellers need most, the WindBurner Stove System (previously called the WindBoiler) is ideal for technical mountaineering and weekend camping alike and boasts better performance figures in strong winds than comparable stoves.

Its radiant burner and enclosed, windproof design allow the stove to boil water fast and operate in weather that other similar gas stoves will struggle in.

Integrated cookware with a built-in heat exchanger efficiently transfers heat to the lock-on pot and the all-in-one system nests inside its pot for easy packing and assembly.

  • Integrated System: Compact, all-in-one stove and cookware solution features a secure-locking pot/personal eat-and-drink mug with cozy.
  • Maximum Efficiency: Radiant burner and heat exchanger deliver faster boil times and more fuel efficiency than conventional stoves that use convective heat only.
  • Windproof Performance: 100% primary air combustion, enclosed design and internal pressure regulator work together to make stove virtually impervious to outside conditions.
  • Compact Design: Conveniently packs the stove burner, 110g gas canister (not included), folding canister stand, and tiny PackTowl® inside the 1.0L Pot. Extra plastic bowl snaps onto the outside.
  • Modular Versatility: Customisable system works with optional cookware accessories, including the WindBurner 1.0L accessory pot, hanging kit and coffee press
  • Thermal Trip Reset: The safety thermal trip mechanism can be reset by the user.
  • Lid with Drinking and Straining Ports.
  • Insulated Cozy with Handle.
  • 1.0L Pot with Heat Exchanger.
  • Secure Connection with Stove.
  • Ultra-Efficient Radiant Burner.
  • Pressure Regulator for Consistent Performance.
  • 0.47 litre Plastic Bowl.
  • Folding Canister Stand.

NB Does not include the hanging kit shown in one of the photographs - this is available as separate item.

Weight (approx.): 432g (not including the gas cylinder).

An upgrade for nearly all MSR canister stoves that adds stability and security.

There are some interesting reviews of this stove on the MSR website. The general consensus is that it out performs similar stoves such as the Jetboil in boiling times and performance in windy conditions. On the negative side, the plastic bowl and lid appear to shrink in very cold conditions (-15ºC and below) and an MSR Reactor Stove might be a better choice for really cold weather trips.

MSR WindBoiler Performance
Windspeed
Stove Boil Time Fuel Used
8 mph MSR WindBurner 2.3 mins 7g
8 mph Competitor's Stove 3.3 mins 9g
12 mph MSR WindBurner 2.45 mins 8g
12 mph Competitor's Stove would not boil

* No prizes for guessing which competitor this might be!

Resetting Thermal Trip Mechanism

  1. Wait 5 minutes for stove to cool.
  2. Disconnect fuel canister from stove.
  3. Open the Flame Adjuster counterclockwise two full turns.
  4. Insert one leg of Fuel Canister Stand into the hole in stove’s mixer tube. Inserted leg should stop against mixer tube.
  5. Rotate the leg clockwise to press the brass jet downward until a click is heard.
  6. Close the Flame Adjuster before reconnecting fuel canister.
  7. Stove is now ready for use.
