A comprehensive guide to rock climbing on the cliffs of Y Moelwynion and Cwm Lledr in the area surrounding Blaenau Ffestiniog and Dolwyddelan, an often overlooked part of Snowdonia.
Almost 800 routes are described, both traditional and sport. The guide contains excellent area maps and individual crag approaches, along with photo-diagrams and many inspirational action photographs. There are also detailed historical, conservation and geology notes along with information of local interest.
The area boasts a variety of settings from urban to moorland, mountain side and secluded valleys, and much of the climbing is on wonderfully abrasive and solid volcanic rock. In fact, the best of the routes here are as good as anywhere in Wales and it is certainly a good alternative to Tremadog when the better known mountain crags are clagged in.
