Freeriding in the Dolomites gathers together a variety of the most interesting ski tours, ski mountaineering and off-piste routes in the central-eastern Dolomites, in an area which extends from Marmolada to the valleys around Sella, up to Passo Falzarego and to the Ampezzo basin. Some of these are steep and serious but there are also plenty of easier routes described.
This is the third edition of Freeriding in the Dolomites, updated to reflect changes in the lift network and changes in the terrain which have altered the ascent and descent lines of several routes. There is also a new chapter dedicated to the freeride traverse of the Dolomites from San Martino di Castrozza to Cortina d'Ampezzo; a week's tour, from mountain hut to mountain hut with short ascents and many fascinating descents - this will appeal to the idle ski tourer as most of the ascents are done via the lift system! The descents are also on the easier side so good for the typical British skier.
Areas covered: The Marmolada, Arabba, Colac, Sassolungo, Sella, Alta Badia, Lagazuoi, Cinque Torri, Tofane, Faloria and Cristallo.
