Founded in 1971 by two students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley, Marmot Mountain Works initially made its name by supplying 108 "very puffy jackets" for a Clint Eastwood film called The Eiger Sanction, an order obtained via Tom Boyce who became part of the firm. They went on to become the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to use Gore-tex fabric, a revolutionary step at the time.
